I am Parthasarathi Misra, a blogger interested in sharing my ideas and experiences across the globe.
I teach ‘Curricular Material Development in Language’ and ‘English Language Proficiency’ courses at the Azim Premji University, Bangalore, India. Besides teaching the postgraduate students of the University, I design professional development courses for teacher educators working in numerous teacher training institutes of the country.
Prior to joining the Azim Premji University in 2011, I was Director, English Language Teaching Institute, Assam from 1994 to 2010.I also taught English language and literature at Cotton College, Gauhati University, Assam, India during the period 1984 to 2010.
I have two postgraduate degrees in English , one from India and the other from the United Kingdom. As a Commonwealth scholar, I went to the United Kingdom in 1988 and did my M.A. in English Language in Literary Studies from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. I have a PG Diploma in ELT from the EFL University, Hyderabad and a Ph.D in Linguistics from the University of Calcutta. I also studied the ‘Teaching English to Young Learners’ course of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA in 2012.
My book, ‘An Introduction to Stylistics: Theory and Practice’ was published by Orient BlackSwan, NewDelhi.
My ares of specialization are Linguistics, Stylistics, English language teaching, academic writing in English and Curricular Material Development in Languages.
During the current academic year, I have designed two courses for teacher educators: (1) Language across Curriculum, (2) A Course in Academic Writing.
